In Nov.2014, after the assessment of scholars and Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering was selected as one of the Popular Science Bases of Shanghai.

State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering is a very important part of Chinese science and technology innovation system in ocean engineering. The Laboratory has many high-tech ocean engineering equipment models and will hold various kinds of popular science exhibitions for students and civilians every year. It also organize practical activities in more than 10 primary and secondary schools, where students could attend lectures made by professors of the lab. Besides,State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering has participated in many nationwide science popularization activities hosted by Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers.
